Nikka Coffey Malt Japanese Whisky

This unique expression was developed in 2013 as a result of Nikka’s continuous experiments to widen the variety and offer more excitements to aficionados. Made from 100% malted barley, whisky distilled in a Coffey still is matured in old casks to enhance the rich maltiness, complexity and a silky texture. This expression is not categorized as “malt whisky” but as “grain whisky” since it is not distilled in a pot still.

The originality of this 100% malt expression lies in its unique distillation method. Malted barley is distilled in a “Coffey still”, a traditional continuous still which is normally used to produce grain whisky, resulting in a malt that is delightfully fruity and spicy. This whisky was previously only released as part of their single cask series. But starting 2016 in the US, Nikka has made this more widely available.
